Keys or Harp collaborator wanted for indie series of duet jazz albums

46732 {This is an indie, pro project}

Producer, vocalist seeking pianist or jazz pedal harpist [preferred] - with own recording studio - to collaborate on producing and releasing several voice/instrument duet albums of music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Unless you live in San Francisco, this is a recording project only, designed for us to shine as recording artists, record the shining and share the illumination with the world. When demand for us brings us a gig we can't refuse, we can talk about changing the model and incorporating a touring vision.

What the project entails:
Two players improv on the same chart, recording their tracks independently. Instrumentalist creates her track first, an interpretation of the piece developed as an "impressionistic accompaniment". The vocalist uses that to record melodic themes, tracks being combined by producer into finished product. The two don't even have to live on the same continent, as long as their individual recordings are professional strength and their collaboration is magical and breathtaking.

I need a player who:
has a very broad imagination;
has [formally or informally] studied composition and arranging;
is outstanding in improv;
is a maverick, pushing the envelope rather than just playing pretty music;
has a firm grasp of music theory;
understands tertiary/sonata form and how to progress a jazz chart in tertiary form;
will take the freedom I give her, create (through improv) a fantastic bed for the vocalist to lay in and rise from with equal freedom and imagination. (Imagine a voice a fluid and lucid as Ella Fitzgerald's; what kind of accompaniment would you create to both inspire and challenge her? THAT's the kind this project needs.)

To audition:
1.) Download the chart for Jobim's "Falando do Amor", along with a recording of Gal Costa performing it, from
www . darkmother.com /de Cygne /music /instrumentaudition.exe - (no spaces)
2.) Record a track at the prescribed tempo; tempo's in the file name.
3.) Do several takes and choose the best one, or mix and match them to create the best single performance, as you prefer.
4.) Convert the track to mp3 or .ogg and send it to the email address above.

The musician whose performance takes my breath away (the most) is the one with whom we'll sail.

This a collaborative venture; the artists will own their masters and license them to my production company. Payday comes from royalties.

Thanks. Looking forward to hearing all of you!!

Hi my name is John Wright. I went to high school in Hampton, New Hampshire, and when I was a freshman in high school my friend's father decided to get a job in Guam. I wrote letters to him and learned a lot about your fine island. I would like to go to Guam someday to check things out. Anyway we have gone our separate ways, and I am a musician in Utah, and I lost track of my high school friend David Ellsworth. If anyone knows of his whereabouts you can have him contact me. My music is on my website www.ceruleanbluemusic.com. I hope that you will contact me. John Wright
